“The championship took place in Porec, Croatia and meeting dancers from all over the world was one of my highlights,” said Dejoné.

The competition was very tough with dancers from countries like Russia, Romania, Czech Republic and Bulgaria, which are renowned for their superior dance skills.

Dejoné participated in the Junior Open Division and finished a well deserved seventh in her category during the final on Saturday. Finishing as one of the top 10 dancers on the day made her very proud and something she will always remember.

“Dancing is my passion. I really enjoy it and look forward to improving in the future. I also want to thank the Lord for giving me the talent to dance,” continued Dejoné.

She trains at Stiehla Dance studio under the watchful eye of her teacher, Bertus Stiehler.
“Well, I am very proud of her. To have come seventh in the world is brilliant. She really worked hard for it as she is a very dedicated girl,” said a very proud Bertus.

Bertus, a Dance World champion himself, has been Dejoné’s teacher for the past five years.
Bertus continued: “To be her coach and South African trainer has been a great privilege.”
“I would like to thank him for all his help and patience, making it possible for me to achieve my goal to represent South Africa, but also to be placed seventh in the world,” said Dejoné.
