Nkandla police seek murder suspect

Nkandla SAPS seeks assistance from members of the community to locate a suspect accused of murder and attempted murder.

Mzameleni Xhozaliphi Sibiya (35) is wanted to assist the police to resolve these cases.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Sibiya fatally shot Zikhiphile Eunice Khumalo (70) and left her four-year-old granddaughter seriously injured on 1 November last year.

“It is believed that Sibiya confronted the elderly woman at her place of residence in the Mangidini area of Nkandla, and complained about his wife who had left the area for Durban to look for employment,” said Netshiunda.

“A quarrel reportedly erupted and Sibiya allegedly shot at Khumalo and her granddaughter. Khumalo was declared dead at the scene and her granddaughter was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.

“Sibiya has since fled the area and his current whereabouts are unknown. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Nkandla Magistrate’s Court. We appeal to anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of this wanted suspect, to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Ndlela on 082 4797046 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
