Ram Mandir inauguration: The Pran Pratishtha ceremony for Ram Lalla’s idol is slated to take place on Monday, 22 January, with the rituals having started on Tuesday, 16 January. The temple will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The specific time for the ceremony is yet to be announced, however, the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) of Ram Lalla within the temple is scheduled for between 12:15 and 12:45pm. Devotees eagerly await the chance to witness this significant event, seeking a glimpse of Ram Lala during the consecration ceremony.

The Ayodhya Temple inauguration holds utmost significance for Hindus worldwide; a milestone reached after the successful culmination of a decades-long movement for the construction of the temple on the birthplace of Lord Ram. The inauguration marks a new era of spiritual significance and economic prosperity for the city of Ayodhya. The Ayodhya Temple inauguration is a historic event that transcends religion, and marks a significant chapter in India’s cultural and spiritual landscape.

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony 2020: On 5 August, the foundation stone for the construction of Ram Temple was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who performed Bhoomi Poojan. Modi became the first prime minister to have Darshan at Ram Janmbhumi and Hanumangarhi Temple of Ayodhya.

May 2022: Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra informed that the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was in full swing. According to the report, the foundation has been laid, and the plinth or the pedestal raising work, which began in January, was ongoing.

January 2024: Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust Champat Rai confirmed that the idol of Lord Ram will be installed at the temple on 22 January and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the inauguration. The Vishva Hindu Parishad said it would invite more than 10 crore families in the country and abroad to take part in the consecration ceremony.

To mark this occasion, Sivananda World Peace Foundation will host an event at Zululand Yacht Club on Monday, 22 January. There will be a floating platform erected on the Indian Ocean to mark this occasion which connects the people of South Africa and India. Shri Ram and the entire Ram Parivar (family) will be placed on this floating platform with colourful lights and flowers as it floats on the ocean. Music and dance will be performed in a grand celebration as a community. “A display of colourful lights will be all over the area, marking a second Deepavali celebration. This festival will see a display of lights welcoming Shri Ram,’ said Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu.

“We take pride and join Sivananda World Peace Foundation during such a momentous occasion when we celebrate with our Hindu brothers and sisters. The coming together of the Hindu community in Richards Bay to celebrate this historic milestone in India and the world is highly applaudable.
“We are happy that the foundation is celebrating this event in King Cetshwayo District, where we are such a diverse nation and rich in culture. “The festival of lights brings about a new dawn in the world and our district,” said King Cetshwayo District Mayor Thami Ntuli.

“South Africa has many cultures and traditions. This makes us a colourful and vibrant country. We are indeed very happy that an event is hosted here in Richards Bay to mark this historic occasion, being the inauguration of the Ram Ayodhya Mandir after 500 years in India.
“We rejoice with the Hindu community in the City of uMhlatuze and South Africa at large. Indeed, we must celebrate each other’s diversity and traditions as a nation,” said City of uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha.
