Three injured in Pongola truck crash

THREE people were seriously injured in an accident on the N2 between Mkhuze and Pongola yesterday.

It is believed the heavy goods vehicle overturned after swerving to avoid cattle in the road.

According to Media Liasion for KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services, Robert McKenzie, the patients were trapped inside the wreckage for some time.

‘KZN EMS transported two of the patients to Bethesda Hopsital, the third was transported by private ambulance,’ he said.

‘Two were in critical condition while the third was serious.’

The roadway was closed for the afternoon, as emergency services worked to clear the scene.
