Sassa grant payment dates for December

December social grants will be paid as of this week

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has announced payment dates for social grants, with pensioners set to be paid this Friday, 1 December.

Disability grant beneficiaries will have the money in their accounts on 4 December, while those receiving child grants will access them from 5 December.

While beneficiaries were expecting their gold cards to expire next month, Postbank has reassured that the card will continue to work normally, even beyond the month of December.

Postbank in October reminded beneficiaries that they do not need to change their gold cards to the cards of other banks.

“Sassa gold cards can be used to withdraw grants from a wide network of the country’s ATMs, of any bank, including any retailer, such as Boxer, Pick n Pay, Usave, Spar and Shoprite.

“This diversity of channels reduces the need for beneficiaries to stand in long queues at Post Offices or cash pay points,” said Postbank spokesperson Dr Bongani Diako.

“No retailer or shop has the right to force beneficiaries to make a purchase, and Sassa beneficiaries are advised to report any retailer or shop that forces them to buy goods prior to paying out their grants.

“You are entitled to your full Sassa grant payment, and you have every right to use the money as you deem necessary,” said Diako.
