Local church facilitates new home for Port Durnford impoverished family

Church donates three-bedroom home to needy community members

The Evangelical Church Port Durnford congregation through its CSI (corporate social investment) programme donated a three-bedroom home to the Xulu family on Sunday.

According to church elder Zwelabo Mathonsi, the congregation runs a programme to support and care for the community in which they serve.

“We noticed the Xulu family in Port Durnford living in a four-roomed house, but there are 23 family members squashed in it,” said Mathonsi.

“We asked the merciful Lord Jesus Christ to touch the hearts of the people, and the business people who sell bricks in this area greatly assisted the congregation with donations.”

Through this donation, the church built the three-room house.

“But help is still needed, as no one in this household, which includes two disabled individuals and a 100-year-old grandmother, is employed,” added Mathonsi.

Anyone able to assist the family is asked to contact the church elder on 082 4065205.
