WATCH: Convicted cop killer wife sentenced to life

Wife sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of her husband, late Kwambonambi warrant officer Nkosinathi Ntinga

The High Court gallery in Mtubatuba erupted in loud cheers and applause on Friday as a convicted former SAPS sergeant was sentenced to life for the 2023 murder of her husband.

Judge Robin Massop further sentenced Ntombizodwa Ntinga (44) to life for the murder of her husband’s friend, Mpendulo Mdluli, an outcome which was also welcomed with equal fervour and excitement.

For robbery with aggravating circumstances, Ntombizodwa, who stood in the dock with her head bowed and had wiped a tear during sentencing, is set to spend 15 years behind bars, while for the kidnappings of her husband and his friend, 5 years each.

Judge Massop ruled that these sentences would run concurrently.

Ntombizodwa’s co-accused, Samkelo Mpanza (22) was sentenced to 25 years each for the murders; 14 years for robbery, and for the kidnappings of late warrant officer Nkosinathi Ntinga and Mdluli, 4 years each.

Mpanza’s sentence, the judge ruled, would also run concurrently.
