Production of the Mercedes-Benz CLS sedan could come to an end this August, marking the end of an era for the luxurious and sporty four-door coupe. This model has been a popular choice for buyers who want the practicality of a sedan with the sleek and stylish appearance of a coupe.

The CLS was first introduced in 2004 and quickly became a success for Mercedes-Benz. The unique and eye-catching design of the car was a hit with buyers who wanted something different from the traditional sedan or coupe. The CLS was one of the first cars to introduce the four-door coupe concept, which has since been adopted by other manufacturers.

Over the years, the CLS has gone through three generations, with each one building on the success of the previous model. The current generation, which has been in production for five years, will most likely be the last. Mercedes-Benz has hinted that the production of the CLS is scheduled to end for all global markets this August, with orders already closed in some markets.

Despite its popularity, it seems that Mercedes-Benz has decided to focus on its electric vehicle range and will not be replacing the CLS with a petrol-powered model. Instead, the company is set to launch the EQE, an all-electric model that has a similar coupe-styled roofline to the CLS.

The EQE is part of Mercedes-Benz’s plan to move towards a more sustainable future, with the company aiming to have all of its passenger cars be electric by 2030. The EQE is already a strong competitor to the Tesla Model S, offering similar levels of luxury and performance but with the added benefit of being emissions-free.

While it will be sad to see to see an iconic model come to an end, it is clear that Mercedes-Benz is looking towards the future and is committed to creating a sustainable and environmentally-friendly range of vehicles. The CLS may have been a trendsetter in the luxury sedan market, but the EQE looks set to take over where the CLS left off, offering buyers a stylish and practical option for years to come.
