Viral video: We will leave no box unturned – Roman’s Pizza

The popular South African pizza brand is under scrutiny after a video went viral, showing an employee allegedly reusing used pizza boxes.

The CEO of Roman’s Pizza, John Nicolakakis, said they had launched an investigation after a video went viral on social media of an employee cleaning used pizza boxes, allegedly for re-use, at its branch at the Mayfield Square Shopping Centre in Daveyton.

In the video that sparked outrage on social media, the woman, wearing the brand’s uniform, takes pizza boxes from a plastic bag and wipes the inside of them clean.

Nicolakakis has assured customers and the public that the scenes depicted in the footage are not a practice of their brand.

“At Roman’s Pizza, we take pride in our customer service and adhere to strict operational protocols to ensure the quality and safety of our products.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour that compromises our brand, products, procedures and hygiene standards.”

He added they are taking this matter seriously and have launched a thorough investigation.

“We will leave no box unturned to ensure our high standards are upheld. Our customers’ trust and loyalty are paramount to us, and we are deeply disturbed by this incident.

“We want to assure our customers that we are investigating this matter thoroughly and will take swift action to address any non-compliance.”
