Badminton club hosts warm-up sessions at Duduza Multipurpose Centre
On the day, Eyethu also accommodated Badminton South Africa, which hosted a Shuttle Time Course, the basics of badminton.
Duduza – Eyethu Badminton Development Club hosted a youth tournament at Duduza Multipurpose Centre on Youth Day.
Teams from the Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association participated in the tournament. It was one of the warm-up sessions for the Air Badminton Tournament in Mauritius from June 24 to 30 and the SA U19 Champs, also from June 24 to 30, in Durban.
The players are also preparing for the SA U13 Championships in Alberton from July 9 to 15. Sport supporters from various schools, proud parents and residents attended.
The club’s director, Samuel Mongala, said the event was successful and served its purpose of preparing the players.

According to Mongala, the players were ready for their upcoming competitions but would continue to train and work hard in preparation.
“We thank the Duduza Sports Confederation, especially Bongani Simelane, Solly Siloana, and the Eyethu senior players for their tireless efforts,” said Mongala.

Wilson Mokomene and Dillan Schaap, a junior national coach, conducted the training. Mongala said the training was vital preparation for the upcoming tournaments.
“We will use the skills to improve on areas of weakness,” he added.
