Department of Correctional Services donate shoes to the less fortunate

The less fortunate in Duduza primary schools received shoe donations from the Department of Correctional Services.

Duduza – Officials from the Social Reintegration Office at the Department of Correctional Services recently donated school shoes to the less fortunate in primary schools in Duduza as part of their social outreach programme.

The beneficiaries received the school shoes and, under the supervision of the parents and teachers, were served a cup of soup and bread to warm up at Duduza Park.

The Nigel head of the Social Reintegration Office for Community Corrections, Katiso Rantlha, said reaching out to the less privileged was a mandate in the department.

“Where we see a need, we organise as an office to help make a difference. Even though we cannot reach out to everyone, we hope the community appreciates the little we contributed,” said Rantlha.

Rantlha added that the department identified a need to give back to the community because it would encourage learners to go to school without worries. He was satisfied with the positive response to the programme.

Another official from the department, Jabu Shabangu, encouraged the learners to concentrate on their studies and become future professionals.
