Women’s group raises funds for orphans and people with albinism

Residents are invited to a walk in aid of a good cause.

Kwa-Thema – The Anglican Churches Far East Rand Archdeaconry Mothers Union invites residents to their inaugural charity fun walk on Saturday at 07:30.

The walk will start at Ekurhuleni East TVET College and go through the Rietfontein, Tonk Meter and Kgaswane roads and back to Sam Ngema Drive towards the college, where the walk will finish.

The president of the organisation, Nontsikelelo Motau, said the event aimed to raise funds for orphans and people with albinism.

“It is part of our objectives as a mother’s group to take care of children, and there is no way we can turn against our words and the community. We need to serve them,” she said.

Motau said regarding the people with albinism, the organisation tries to bring hope to them that they are loved.

“People with albinism have a right to live, and we say ‘no’ to the killings they face,” she concluded.

The theme for the day was rainbow colours.
