Fire destroys Ext 6 home

Family escaped unharmed.

Kwa-Thema – A house in Kwa-Thema Ext Six caught fire on Monday at around 23:00.

The cause of the fire is thought to be a candle, which was left lit during load-shedding.

Ward 79 Clr Njabulo Mbonani said the burnt house was home to a family of three, a mother and two sons, aged 22 and 16.

The family managed to escape unharmed.

The 16-year-old is not a learner at any school due to ill-health and the 22-year-old is unemployed.

The family is currently staying with a relative and they have lost everything in the fire. This includes clothes.

Mbonani is requesting assistance from those who can help rebuild their house and donations of clothes and groceries.
