Kwa-Thema CCC hosts soup kitchen to celebrate Mandela Day

Kwa-Thema – Over 300 pensioners received warm vegetable soup and bread, courtesy of Kwa-Thema CCC staff and councillors on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This was part of Mandela Day celebrations lined up for July 18.
Kwa-Thema walk-in centre manager Andries Nkabinde said this was their way of showing gratitude to the community.
“There is no better time to do it than Mandela Month in celebrating the icon’s legacy and interacting with our community.
“Through this initiative, we managed to feed about 300 people that came to our facilities,” said Nkabinde.
He added after the recent fire at their facilities, they arranged counselling for the staff as they noticed that they needed it.
“We wanted to do something to boost the morale of the staff and continue to encourage teamwork. The soup and bread helped some of them,” he added.
Nkabinde said the turnout from the community was good because they targeted those who would have come to the facility for various service needs.
