Ward committee member feeds patients soup for Mandela Day

Seeing people smile made Lungile Jele happy.

Kwa-Thema – The Ward 77 Youth Sector ward committee observed Mandela Day at the Selope Thema Clinic in Kwa-Thema Ext 3.

They served the patients bread and soup, apt for the cold morning.

Lungile Jele, a Youth Sector ward committee member, said Mandela Day was about giving back to the community and touching people’s hearts.

“Some patients go for their check-ups on an empty stomach, and serving them soup meant a lot to them,” Jele said.

She said it made her happy to see people’s happy faces, and she wished to continue this project monthly or quarterly, depending on resources.

The leftover bread went to a children’s home and a child-headed household.
