Workers injured in 3 Storey fall
Construction has been halted according to management of Eastgate Shopping Centre.

THE COLLAPSE of a construction site at Eastgate mall on the afternoon of Sunday, January 31 has left three men injured according to Netcare spokesperson, Chris Botha.
Shortly after 13:00 paramedics arrived at Eastgate Shopping Centre where scaffolding had collapsed. According to Emer-G-Med; three male construction workers fell approximately three storeys and were found beneath the rubble.
Botha confirmed on Monday morning that one patient was found in a critical condition and two sustained serious injuries. The patients were reportedly stabilised on site and transported to an Alberton hospital for further medical attention.
Construction has been halted according to management of Eastgate Shopping Centre. In an interview with Bedfordview Edenvale News, Nomzamo Radeve, Chief Executive Officer of JHI stated, “Eastgate takes health and safety of all workers very seriously and the safety and security of shoppers and tenants is of the utmost importance to Eastgate.”
An investigation is pending to determine the cause of the collapse.
