Man found beaten on Queen Street

“I thought he was dead. I called my colleague and we investigated."

A man, abducted from the inner city, was beaten to a pulp and dropped on the streets of Bruma.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Johnson Nare, a security officer from Peaceforce Security, said he was patrolling when he noticed a man lying on the side of the street next to Queen Street and Ernest Oppenheimer Avenue.

“I thought he was dead. I called my colleague and we investigated. He tried to call out when he saw us. I then saw he was alive. He had serious injuries to his head. I asked our controller to call the police and an ambulance. The man was not wearing trousers  or underwear. We took a pair of trousers from our office just to cover him,”  said Mr Nare

The victim said he had been abducted by four men from a night club in the inner city.

“He said he thought the problem started after he danced with a woman there. He said he went outside to talk to her. As they were talking, four men confronted him. They beat him, took him to a taxi and continued to beat him. He said they took off his trousers and left him to die,” he said.

The man was taken to hospital after being attended to by paramedics at the scene.
