Sizzling summer for ladies golf
The event will see top professionals such as Lee-Anne Pace and Tandi von Ruben take on a host of international competitors.
The Glendower Golf Club is set to host one round of the Chase to the Investec Cup for Ladies.
The newly launched event, which kicked off on Thursday, officially marked the start of the World Professional Golf Association’s (WPGA) Sunshine Ladies Tour.
The event signalled a new era in women’s professional golf in South Africa.
The event will see top professionals such as Lee-Anne Pace and Tandi von Ruben take on a host of international competitors.
“We are thrilled that so many of our top professionals have found a way to support the new tour and will be playing in some, if not all, six of the tournaments throughout February and March. They will vie for a spot in the limited-field Investec Cup for Ladies,” said WPGA chairperson, Margie Whitehouse.
The format of the first six tournaments will be 36-holes stroke play with no cut and each event will offer prize money of R100 000.
The Investec Cup for Ladies in March, however, is limited to the leading 10 professionals on the Order of Merit and boasts a purse of R300 000.
The fourth Chase to the Investec Cup for Ladies will take place at the Glendower Golf Club from February 27 to February 28.
