Budeca Women beat Ngasa Women 4-3 to go through to the semi-finals of the Pinyin Unity Competition.
The two teams met at Rhodes Park to play a game of hand ball.
Competition coordinator, Mr August Awa, said the competition was started by people from Pinyin, a village in Cameroon, and living in South Africa.
“It was formed to bring the people from Pinyin together, and preserve their culture. But now the competition has grown and we are sourcing players from many African countries,” he said.
The game is played by seven players on each team. While there are some similarities to soccer, the game is played using the hands.
Mr Awa said the games will be played every Sunday at the Rhodes Park soccer grounds until December 6.
