A 25-year-old man was nabbed by police yesterday after being found with more than R3 million worth of counterfeit goods. Hundreds of high-end clothing labels and cellphones were found and seized by police.

THE Sydenham police arrested a 25-year-old man yesterday in Overport after he was found with counterfeit goods, including high-end cellphones and flip-flops worth over R3 million.

According to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, police intelligence led the team to a shop at the corner of Brickfield Road and Crescent Street. “Upon arrival, the suspect was found selling big-brand items without any documentation. Police also uncovered that the shop was just a front for the suspect’s illicit cellphone trade.”
