Crawford takes on cycle challenge for charity
Para-triathlete Sebastian Crawford rode the ride 947 Challenge for cerebral palsy.
RISING para-triathlete, Sebastian Crawford, took on the gruelling Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge in the name of The Paige Project to raise funds for children that suffer from cerebral palsy.
The Paige Project is one of the charities that benefits from the 94.7 Cycle Challenge. Crawford finished the race, in a time of 4:48.56 seconds.
“The main thing for me was that I was going to be giving back to a charity. I was really excited about the race and the prospect of being part of something so big!”
Sebastian rode with his cousin who is in grade eight.
For the Elite Athlete Development Programme (EADP) athlete it was the first time he took on this particular challenge and despite having completed a number of the local one day classics he was apprehensive about the race. Having done the Tour Durban and the Amashova, he said he had still been a little nervous about the challenge.
“The whole vibe around The Paige Project is great. We had a dinner the night before the race which gave us the chance to meet other riders and get excited about the race the following day,” explained Crawford.
Without the help of a number of sponsors Crawford would not have been able to raise the funds that he did and he is grateful for all the input that people put in to help him assist in raising awareness for cerebral palsy.
