Punters could do a lot worse than vote for trainer Dennis Bosch at Greyville on polling day on Monday. Once we’ve completed the tough job of deciding which politicians to reward with an “X” for their promises, we can turn to the far less challenging task of finding winners at the races.
And Bosch appears to have made things even easier by fielding several runners on the Durban Polytrack with bright chances of winning and placing. From a smallish string at Summerveld, canny horseman Dennis has a consistent win rate and could bolster the record at this meeting.
Bosch has seven horses carded and half of them have winning credentials. None are likely to start as favourites, but it would be a surprise if a few weren’t in the frame.
Perhaps the yard’s best prospect is Knight Warrior in Race 7, an MR66 Handicap. The five-year-old has been showing signs of coming to hand since returning from a break in early August, particularly since the fitting of blinkers two runs back.
White Cedar was favourite for this race at the opening call, thanks to some promising recent form, but this six-year-old’s sole victory came nearly 1,000 days ago. He might have lost that winning knack.
Bosch’s other hopes on the day are Flag Of Wren in the second, Family Favourite in the third, Fever in the fifth and What A Blast in the eighth and last.
Most, if not all, of these need to go into BiPots, PAs and Pick 6s – not to mention Trifectas and Quartets.
