Time for Luna Eclipse to shine

The Michael Roberts-Rachel Venniker trainer-jockey team has had a quiet spell but might bounce back into the limelight at Monday’s Polytrack meeting at Greyville.

Roberts campaigned Luna Eclipse over sprints during the first two months of the year – understandably, after she landed her maiden in a 1000m dash. The results were indifferent.

Then, in late March, he gave her a try over a mile and the experiment showed much promise as she grabbed the runner-up spot despite not starting well.

Another recent tweak that seems to be paying dividends is racing at the head of affairs.

Luna Eclipse goes for Venniker in Race 6, over 1600m, and must be included in all betting permutations.

The country’s top apprentice jockey also partners Snow Tune for Roberts in Race 4 and is a definite prospect to run a drum. Much he same can be said of Sonjador in Race 7.
