New principal for Woodland’s junior college

As mother to two students at Woodlands, the new principal is personally invested in guiding the future of the college.

The new principal of Woodlands International Junior College, Romy Gatsios, is a woman who embraces life’s inevitable challenges with poise and tenacity.Gatsios recently took over the reins following Rhona Knell’s retirement.

With a grist-to-the-mill attitude, this experienced educator views obstacles as unique opportunities for personal growth.

A long-standing member of the college’s academic staff, Gatsios—formerly the deputy principal—is a highly capable and seasoned educationalist and administrator. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree, specialising in Foundation Phase and Early Childhood Development, and brings over 18 years of teaching experience in both the public and private sectors.

Her background spans preschool as well as the foundation and intermediate phases, giving her a clear and comprehensive understanding of children’s progressive and holistic development.

She places particular focus on academic excellence, student and staff wellbeing, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Having led several initiatives at Woodlands aimed at promoting innovative thinking and strategic planning among academic staff, Gatsios is well-positioned to implement ongoing professional development strategies and to optimise and grow the college’s human capital.

With a keen understanding of the junior college value chain—linking pre-primary to senior phases—and strong relationships across both, she serves as a knowledge bridge throughout all phases of Woodlands International College.
