The Moonsamy family continues to hold out hope that justice will prevail for slain Michaela Moonsamy Yellapan.
The 27-year-old Benonian was fatally shot at the Key Largo Centre in Boksburg early on May 18 last year.

Brandon Govender (48) reappeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on May 12 on a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with her death.
Yellapan’s family again attended court wearing their signature pink T-shirts bearing the message “Justice for Michaela Moonsamy Yellapan”.
The court postponed the matter to June 18.

Yellapan’s brother, Jeremy Moonsamy, expressed the family’s desire for closure, saying they hoped the proceedings would conclude by year-end.
“Justice should be served. Her life can’t be replaced. It took a year for the matter to be transferred to the regional court.

“Hopefully, it will be finalised by the end of this year,” he said.
Yellapan’s death has devastated her family, with her brother carrying her name permanently inked on his right arm to honour her.
