Market offers variety of homegrown and homemade products
It was a fun-filled day for the whole family to enjoy.
A vibrant gathering of local growers, makers, healers and artisans showcased a diversity of handmade products and homegrown goods at Thrivers’s market held at Heckers Garden Centre on May 24 and 25.
With over 70 passionate vendors and the fresh energy of young entrepreneurs, the market reflects the creative spirit of the community and also supports two new charities at every event, including Kid’s Haven in Benoni and The Dawn Paws Foundation. The charities are offered a premium space and are given assistance with fundraising.
Visitors explored a wide array of offerings, including organic fruit, vegetables, and nuts, as well as farm-fresh cheeses, gourmet ice cream, and delicious homemade baked goods.
Stalls featured everything from handcrafted wooden décor and bespoke leather items to honey, jams, chutneys, cherry-based treats, fermented goodies and hot sauces.

Natural health and wellness were also well represented, with a selection of holistic herbal remedies and vitality products. The market also included jewellery, toys, arts and crafts, along with food favourites such as mini doughnuts, waffles, toasties, samoosas, and the ever-popular traditional prego rolls.
The organisers of the market (part of Thrivers’ management), Daniel Bothma and Johan Koekemoer, described the event as a success and thanked all the vendors and Heckers.
“It’s a family-friendly atmosphere where children, parents, and even pets are welcome. With something for every age and interest, these gatherings continue to celebrate community, creativity, and connection in a meaningful way,” Koekemoer added.
