This is according to EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago, who stated that the “scary incident” took place at about 5.30am on Friday, last week, along Main Reef Road.
The youngster, who was riding a Suzuki, was clocked travelling at 152km/h.
“The young driver advanced that he was late for work as the reason for travelling at that breakneck speed within a built-up area,” said Kgasago.
“Together with five other motorists who were caught doing speeds of between 99km/h and 116km/h, the biker was arrested and charged with reckless and negligent driving at the Brakpan Police Station.”
All six were released after posting bail of R1 000 each.
In another speed enforcement operation, held in Brakpan on Monday, 10 drivers were arrested along the R554, a 70km/h zone.
“They were all arrested between 4.48am and 5.16am for exceeding the prescribed speed limit,” said Kgasago.
“A 42-year-old BMW driver clocked 134km/h, saying he was late for work.
“Coincidentally, all the other arrestees, caught doing speeds of between 126km/h and 110km/h, gave lateness for work as the reason for contravening the traffic law.”
