Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A company along Uranium Road in Vulcania was robbed by four men.

The robbers gained access to the premises around 2.10am and threatened a security guard at gunpoint.

The gang stole truck batteries and other undisclosed items.

* Two break-ins took place.

A gaming console was stolen from a home in Muir Avenue, while a TV and other valuables were stolen from an address along Goddard Avenue in Brakpan North.

* A laptop was stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Beechwood Street in Dalpark.

• Saturday – Two vehicles were stolen.

A white Mazda bakkie was stolen from Queen Avenue, and a white Ford Ranger was stolen from Carnival City.

* An attempted hijacking was reported at an address along Prince George Avenue.

The driver of a Ford Ranger bakkie was confronted by three men as he arrived home just before 8pm.

He was threatened with guns and pulled out of the vehicle.

During the commotion, the key to the bakkie was broken off in the ignition.

The would-be hijackers then fled with cash and cellphones.

A case of armed robbery was opened.

• Sunday – A white Ford Bantam bakkie was stolen from Morris Place in Kenleaf.

* A man was robbed of his belongings in a taxi.

The victim was threatened with a knife shortly after boarding a white Toyota Quantum along Athlone Avenue in Dalview, at about 7.15pm.

There were three other people in the vehicle, including the driver.

The victim was searched and robbed of his cellphone, wallet and tekkies.

• Shoplifting: 1
