Hijacking victim dumped in bushes after assault

Three men overpowered a driver on July 17, assaulting him and making off with a company-owned Toyota Hilux.

The driver of a white Toyota Hilux was tied up and beaten by hijackers in Withok Estates on Thursday morning.

According to police information, the victim, driving a company-owned bakkie, was ambushed by a lone gunman at around 11:00 when he stopped at a stop sign at the corner of Mans Street and Heidelberg Road.

The hijacker climbed into the bakkie, pointed a gun at the victim and told him to drive. He was instructed to drive down a gravel road and then stop.

The hijacker was joined by two accomplices and the victim was pulled from the bakkie and assaulted by the three men.

His face was covered and his hands were tied.

The victim was then forced into an unidentified vehicle, where he was driven to an isolated, bushy area and left there.

Cases of hijacking and kidnapping were registered at Brakpan SAPS.
