Newspapers will be available at Brakpan library soon

I urge the council to know that a library is a source of information.

Themba Mokoena writes by email:

I kindly request the Ekurhuleni council to reinstate the availability of the daily newspapers at the Brakpan Library.

The council must ensure that the dissemination of information is adhered to at all levels.

I urge the council to know that a library is a source of information.

I also request the council spokesperson not to spin this request but act to ensure that such a vital need of the Brakpan community is restored.

Editor’s note: The Herald received the following response from City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe:

“We are currently undergoing the Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes to procure newspapers as per our SCM regulations,” he said.

“We will have newspapers available in all 46 libraries as soon as the processes have been finalised and a service provider appointed.

“We do realise the value and importance of the provision of newspapers and see it as a high priority to have it available.”
