Petrol, diesel prices to increase in November

The price of petrol will rise by 4 cents while diesel will go up by 23 cents.

The retail price of petrol and the wholesale price of diesel in South Africa will increase from Wednesday due to a weakening of the rand against the dollar, the energy department said on Sunday.

The price of petrol will rise by 4 cents to 14.05 rand per litre in the commercial hub of Gauteng province, while that of diesel will go up by 23 cents to 12.35 rand.

“South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors. International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.

“The prices of Petroleum Products in the International Markets The average prices of petrol and illuminating paraffin decreased, while the diesel prices increased, during the period under review. Based on current local and international factors, the fuel prices for November 2017 will be adjusted as follows:

  • Petrol (93 Octane, ULP and LRP): 4.00 c/l increase;
