Overgrown trees and foliage on Mount Pellan Drive cause for concern

Overgrown trees, grass and foliage is becoming a problem for residents who live on Mount Pellan Drive, Bassonia.

MOUNT PELLAN DRIVE – One resident said, “The pavement is so overgrown and vagrants sit in the long grass and under the trees for shade. I’m very concerned that one of these days someone will be hiding in the foliage and pounce while we are waiting in our driveway for the gate to open.

“We had an incident last year where goods were stolen from our yard and the thieves used this overgrown mess to hide the goods until their vehicle arrived to cart it away.”

The Armco barrier on one of the bends in the road is totally covered at one point with over grown trees, and partially at another section with long grass and weeds. Motorists can hardly see the barrier.

“The biggest problem is that contractors will come and cut the trees back, but they don’t remove the roots, or poison them, and in three months’ time we have the same result. Another issue, when the contractors come to cut down the trees, the vagrants selling golf balls through the palisade fence ask them not to cut the trees as they offer shelter and shade, and the contractors oblige. Can something be done about this?”
