Adam Habib to speak at Aardklop National Arts Festival

Renowned political scientist Adam Habib will be speaking at the Diskoers programme at the annual Aardklop Arts festival in Tlokwe on National Heritage Day.

The Aardklop National Arts Festival is one of the biggest arts festivals in South Africa, and is the place to be for lovers of theatre, music, art, Afrikaans and South African culture.

Habib, political scientist and also the vice-chancellor and principal of the University of Witwatersrand, will have a discussion on economic growth and inclusive development with Ferial Haffajee, editor of the City Press and political and trends analyst JP Landman, author of the book ‘The Long View.’

Habib’s new book, ‘South Africa’s Suspended Revolution – Hopes and Prospects’, is a critical analysis of South Africa’s recent history, a picture of where the country is at the moment, and an insightful view of where it is headed. The discussion will form part of Habib’s book launch tour.

“We are thrilled to have this event added to the Diskoers programme,” said Veronica Klipp from Wits University Press.

“The issues that Habib raises in his new book are an important part of South Africa’s current national discourse – and this is what the Diskoers part of Aardklop is all about – getting people thinking and talking about society’s issues.”

Adam Habib will be speaking at the Diskoers programme on Tuesday, 24 September from 8am to 10am.
