Bigstar Johnson wins The Hustle

Bigstar Johnson (Tumelo Rakumako) has been crowned champion of hip hop reality show The Hustle.

The public got an opportunity to choose their winner via the WeChat platform and Bigstar, who AKA, a judge on the show, rooted for from the onset, walked off victorious in front of a live studio audience. Bigstar, who hails from Kempton Park, walks away with a R 250 000 cash prize, a record and management deal to the value of R250 000 with The Vth Season, a PR management deal with African Star Communications, a music video worth R 100 000 and an opportunity to perform at Maftown Heights in November.

Runner up ShabZi Madallion does not go home empty-handed and takes home a cash price of R 50 000. ShabZi expressed his gratitude to The Hustle and remains excited about the future. “I never really yearned for mainstream success; my priority was always independence. To stay genuine and give back to the people who believe in me, even if it is a hundred people, is what I hope for. Thank you to all the fans who have shown me love throughout this journe,” he said.

Bigstar is of course thrilled by the result, although still shocked, as he felt it was a close one: “I feel so blessed. It feels really good to know that people believe in me, they have given me a chance – I won’t disappoint them.”
