Amanda Bynes signs up for fashion college

Amanda Bynes has enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

The troubled actress wasted no time after being discharged from UCLA Medical Center in Malibu, California, last week, where she was being treated for schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder, and has signed up to the private design school in order to pursue a career as a fashion designer.

It seems the 27-year-old star has put her music dreams to rest after announcing her plans to reinvest herself as a female rapper this summer, and is focusing on a more sensible job.

According to TMZ, Amanda has registered for two classes at the Orange County-based school – which was famously attended by Lauren Conrad in ‘The Hills’ – under an alias.

The She’s The Man star’s friends and family are reportedly hoping college will help her readjust to normal life while she continues the medical treatment which she began in rehab.

Amanda is due to be escorted to and from her classes and will juggle her studies with four weekly therapy sessions.

The Nickelodeon favourite was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in July when her erratic behaviour spiralled out of control, culminating in a bizarre incident during which she started a small fire in a stranger’s driveway in Thousand Oaks, California, accidentally setting fire to her own trouser legs and dousing her pet pooch in petrol.

Her mother Lynn was granted a temporary conservatorship over her daughter in August, but she will continue to have control over her well-being and finances indefinitely.
