Countdown to Maggie’s last Generations episode

Tomorrow Generations viewers will watch Maggie Benedict play Akhona Miya on their small screens for the very last time.

Benedict’s character, Akhona, recently found out that her mother had in fact been killed by her favourite cousin MJ, who had previously blamed the death on drug dealers. It turned out Akhona’s mother had gone to MJ to tell her that Sibusiso, who he planned to kill, was in fact his father. During the argument MJ fired a shot, killing Akhona’s mother when she got in the way.

Angry with MJ, Akhona leaves for Botswana to find out what had exactly happened to her father supposedly disappeared in exile, only to find out he was still alive. In the mist of her drama, Akhona get an offer to from a broadcaster in Botswana – an offer she is likely to accept with only two episodes left.

Social media was all aflutter on Wednesday night as the countdown to Benedict’s final episode began:

Last year reports emerged that the 33-year-old actress had told soapies producers to “shove” their job after a contractual dispute.

Benedict has since denied rumours that she is leaving Generations to be part of the new awarding winning rival soapie Isibaya.

The Pretoria born actress who made ‘Motho’ a household phrase has been all-over the tabloids in recent months for all the wrong reason after she was arrested for allegedly stealing Panado tablets worth R17 at a Checkers store.

Benedict started her acting career in theatre, had stint appearances in Justice For All 3 and 7de Laan. The actress big break came in 2010 when she played Zoey Matsekwa in the M-Net/kykNET soapie Binnelanders and made her debut on Generations in 2011.
