DJ Bongz launching clothing range

Popular musician DJ Bongz has not only announced a split from his record company, but that he is diversifying and taking his skills into the clothing and fashion arena.

Bongz, whose real name is Bongani Dlamini Ngcobo told The Sowetan that he wanted his fans to be able to share in his sense of elegance and style.

“I am launching a clothing store soon,” he said.

“I have always been a man of good taste and want to share my style view with men, all of this is exciting for me.”

He also suggested that the clothing line, to be known as Mabala Emporium would be a premium brand. “I am about quality and quantity, I am catering for the Instagram market, people who hold double phones, those are the stylish niche,” he said.

DJ Bongz proceeded to announce the launch of a new album and a new record deal, saying that he had parted company with his former label, Sony.

“My contract with Sony has come to an end. Now that I am with Soul Candi, I will be releasing my new album titled ‘Mabala Noise’ with them,” he said, saying that the album would be out early in 2014.

Describing the new album he said: “I fused hip hop and House, this style is different; it’s mostly done in the US but we are also capable of producing such tunes.

“It is important for me to come back with a bang. People think I have been silent but I have not. I have been busy with gigs, the only difference was that I have not released anything fresh yet.

“I am bringing back the old Bongz and in my new album I have collaborated with Durban musicians such as Big Nuz, Fisherman and Zakwe. In some of my other tracks I have worked with Bongani Fassie and Bucie.”
