MaMkhize gets honorary doctorate: ‘Address me as Dr President Shauwn Mkhize’

Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize’s titles are stacking up and the businesswoman and president of Royal AM football club can now add “doctor” to her title.

MaMkhize posted her graduation dinner on Sunday and went all out after being conferred an honorary doctorate by Good Shepherd College of Religion and Training. The college awarded her for her dedication to helping the community.

She celebrated this with her sister Nozipho Ngubo, who also received an honorary doctorate.

“Dear Mama and Papa. Here we are… your daughters are both doctors. I hope you and dad are watching over this moment and you are beyond proud. Thank you Lord for this day and thank you to oKhabazela ka Mavovo kayihlandla. It’s moments like this that I cherish from the bottom of my heart, being celebrated and acknowledged whilst I’m still alive.

“It’s official you can now address me as Dr President Shauwn Mkhize,” she wrote on Instagram.

MaMkhize then shared pictures of her intimate dinner with friends and family, hosted in her home, with some guests wearing graduation gowns as well.

“I’m so grateful for them, the immense love they showered me [with] last night was so heartwarming. The greatest gift you can ever give somebody is showing up for them and boy, oh boy, did they show up for me.

“Thank you to each and every person that made my day super special,” she said.

Fans and celebrities congratulated Mkhize. She added that the feeling of receiving an honorary doctorate filled her heart with immense joy.

There were mixed reactions over MaMkhize’s achievements, as her critics said the institution she received it from wasn’t recognised enough and that she went overboard with the celebrations.

Others in support said it didn’t matter which university she received it from, it still should be celebrated.
