Jimmy Tau is my father, says 19-year-old man

The man says he grew up in Swaziland and was raised by his mother, who lived in Soweto at the time of her pregnancy.

Majohonge Mahlalela, from Swaziland,  has come out claiming to be former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau’s son. In a report by Daily Sun, the 19-year-old man said he had travelled a long way to have a relationship with Tau.

The man reportedly told the tabloid his mother told him his father was Tau, advising him against making contact with him, as “it was not necessary”. He claimed she showed him pictures of Tau.

According to the tabloid, Majohonge said he grew up in Swaziland and was raised by his mother, Fikile Mahlalela, who lived in Soweto at the time of her pregnancy. The woman was reportedly sent to Swaziland after Majohonge’s birth and passed on in 2005.

His grandmother took care of him for a while before her death. His aunt took over the responsibilities until recently passing on. Mahojonge said he was left with no one to look after him.

Majohonge travelled to Soweto to his uncle Sicelo Mabuza’s house, only to find he does not live there anymore.

Responding to the claims, Tau reportedly told the tabloid he could not be the 19-year-old’s son, as he was 15 and living in Kimberley at the time of his birth.

Tau addressed the allegations on Saturday, saying his social media account had been hacked. He said the hacker spoke to Majohonge.

“I want to state it on record that I don’t know anything regarding both incidents.

“I have been advised to open a case regarding both matters,” his statement reads.
