Gwyneth Paltrow: my kids won’t grow up in LA

Gwyneth Paltrow doesn't want her children - Apple and Moses - to become teenagers in Los Angeles, where she grew up.

The ‘Sliding Doors’ actress recently moved back to the city she grew up in with Apple, nine, and Moses, seven, from London, but insists she will bring them back to the UK before they become teenagers.

Gwyneth – who is married to British Coldplay rocker Chris Martin – told Red magazine: ”I don’t want my children to be teenagers in Los Angeles. No way. I’m looking at this move to America like two years, three years tops – then we will go back.

”It’s part of my parenting philosophy that children should get the opportunity to reinvent themselves at a few points in their childhood to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie and to experience living in different cultures. It’s an experiment.”

The 41-year-old star made the move after ten years in the British capital so her family could be closer to her kids and spend more time with them.

She added: ”I love London – it’s my favourite city in the world. I love my house and my life there. But in California, I have the girls I grew up with and my family.”

Gwyneth has previously told how her children have developed ”strange” transatlantic accents because they split their time between the US and the UK.

She said: ”Weirdly my son is half-Brooklyn [New York] and half-English – he’s got a really strange accent. And my daughter is completely American with me at home or in America, but completely British at school. It’s bizarre.”
