Savita most Googled African female

Google spokeswoman Julie Taylor confirmed Savita’s top ranking on a Google Trends list of the ten most Googled women in Africa, according to the Daily Sun.

Savita garnered quite a Twitter following when her timeline took a rather controversial turn earlier this year following the passing of her husband, who she accused of adultery.

Savita publicly accused TV and radio presenter Kuli Roberts of having an affair with her estranged husband. The stakes were raised when Savita’s son, Sithe, took to his own Twitter account and posted a scathing tweet addressed to Roberts.

“so if you don’t mind you can take your cheap lipstick and your ugly face and shove it,” it read.

Outspoken Kuli Roberts is, incidentally, the second most searched woman on the list of online trends, followed by athlete Caster Semenya, politician Mamphela Ramphele, and businesswoman Shauwn Mpisane.

Mpisane’s business was awarded tax clearance by SARS despite the fact she previously appeared in court for tax fraud. No doubt the controversial decision boosted Mpisane’s Google search ranking.

Sixth on the list is Thandi Maqubela, who was convicted for the murder of her husband, followed by television personality Noni Gasa, whose father was brutally murdered in April.

Gifted ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ contestant Asanda Jezile , who has South African parents, came in eighth, followed by popular afro-soul singer Zahara, and Kenyan activist Wangari Maathai rounds off the list in tenth place. Maathai, who died in 2011, was posthumously honoured with a Google Doodle in April.
