‘Umhlobo Wenene management on a mission to frustrate KCI out of the station’

The radio jock was moved from a popular daytime slot to a graveyard segment.

Sources have spoken out about apparent efforts to frustrate popular radio presenter KCI August out of Umhlobo Wenene FM.

KCI has been with the Xhosa radio station for 14 years and was the host of the 3 to 6pm slot with Zizo Tshwete. Sunday Sun reports that Zizo has been paired with DJ Amaza while KCI was moved to the 10 pm segment.

An insider told the tabloid that the station’s manager, Phumzile Mnci, allegedly had ‘a score to settle with KCI.’

“Even KCI is unhappy about the move, but what could he do? He just complied,” the insider said.

Another source said KCI was told about the reshuffle after the decision was made.

“It’s good that KCI is level headed. Someone else would have allowed themselves to be frustrated by this group of bitter people,” the source said.

KCI told the newspaper that he was approaching the situation with a positive attitude and he was grateful to spend time with his listeners.

Move magazine reported that KCI’s job was on the line after Mnci told him his last day at the station was on March 31 despite his contract only ending in 2018.
