“It’s been a long time coming. I can’t wait to set my foot in the ring. Infinity International Boxing has made it possible,” the dancer wrote on Instagram.

However, Khanyi has rubbished the claims, saying her brand wouldn’t allow her to participate in a boxing match.

“No admin. It’s a lie. I’m not doing any fight with Zodwa mina. I’m a lady. Why would I do that? My brand wouldn’t allow me to do such,” she told Maphepha Ndaba.

The Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture in Mpumalanga has also distanced itself from the alleged Khanyi and Zodwa boxing match. This after promoter Arnold “Squire” Nododile’s company reportedly used the department’s logo to promote the match.

“We are not sure how they got our logo and used it without our permission. And we are not happy about this.

“They came to us with a presentation with dates and set deadlines, and we told them that it does not work like that. We have processes that must be followed to apply for the funding,” the department told Sowetan.

Celebrity boxing matches became popular in South Africa in 2021 when the multi-award-winning rapper, Cassper Nyovest stepped into the boxing ring with the controversial YouTuber, Slik Talk.

For the longest time, Cassper also hinted at a boxing match with the late rapper, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes. While the match with AKA never happened, Cassper got into the ring with other celebrities, such as NaakMusiQ, and Priddy Ugly.
