Winnie Khumalo throws shade at Zodwa Wabantu after performing for Robert Mugabe

Winnie Khumalo travelled to Zimbabwe recently to perform for President Robert Mugabe at the Youth Presidential Interface Rally.

The singer was joined by fellow South African musician Uhuru in Bulawayo for the festivities.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Winnie joked that unlike Zodwa Wabantu, who was scolded by the president in September for refusing to wear panties during her performances, Winnie says she made sure she packed her underwear.

“I wear my undies. Zodwa doesn’t and that is how she brands herself. I brand myself in my own way,” she teased.

Winnie says she did not get to speak to the president as security at the stadium was tight.

She says fans loved them so much, they were invited to perform at a packed club after the rally.

Winnie’s performance comes a few weeks after a tabloid report claimed she was bid ridden for two months following a surgery to remove an abscess that had developed in her buttocks.

She once again denied the reports, adding that she is doing okay.

Winnie says that she is 90% healed from her surgery, but she has to return to theatre in May.

“I was walking fine in Zimbabwe and there was no problem. It only affects me when I am cold. I still have stitches that need to be removed but I am focusing on my recovery,” she told TshisaLIVE.
