Fikile Mbalula asks ‘zintoni iMigos’ sets Twitter alight

By Tinashe Venge

Migos, a rap trio from Atlanta, USA, performed in South Africa on the 20th and 21st of October and when he noticed their name trending all over the country, Minister Mbalula asked who/what Migos was/is:

Twitter immediately came to the Minister’s aid, however, the responses ranged from jokes to people suggesting that Mbalula focus more on solving the rampant crime in South Africa.

It began on a light note, with people joking about a South African version of Migos.

While others described them as “American Drug Dealers”

Migos’ performance in South Africa was met with mixed reviews, as a large number of their fans walked away disappointed by the effort they gave on the day.

One user was so disappointed in their live show that he tried to report them as criminals to Mbalula.

However, the conversation took a more serious turn when users started pointing out the fact that our Police Minister was too concerned with making jokes instead of focusing on his duties.

Politics and entertainment mix frequently in South Africa. This user below urged Mbalula to get his answers from ANCYL Treasurer, Reggie Nkabinde. The politician is the founder and owner of Mabala Noise, who arranged the South African Migos concert.

Between the jokes, the memes and the criticism, it’s worth noting that Fikile Mbalula didn’t get his answer!
