kykNET’s ‘Boer Soek ‘n Vrou’ features gay farmer for first time

The hit reality show which helps farmers find love will for the first time include a gay farmer, which was mostly accepted by viewers.

The latest season of the show, which helps farmers find love, is set to air in October.

Producers introduced viewers to the 10 men searching for their soulmates on Sunday night.

One of the men, Damian, is an openly gay farmer of cattle and sheep.

The 37-year-old Bapsfontein resident is looking for a male companion.

Many viewers are excited that the show is embracing the LGBTQI community

“We stand for a diverse country,” one Twitter user wrote.

A second added: “His sexual preference is irrelevant. We must judge him by what he has brought to the show. Gay or straight, the crops don’t care.”

But some were not impressed with Damian’s inclusion on the show

“Doesn’t make sense! The name says farmer seeks a wife. Nothing ‘wife’ about a gay farmer looking for a partner. What are the producers thinking?” one man asked.

Another added: “This guy shouldn’t even be on the show.”

The 10 farmers will be cut down to five before the new season starts. It all depends on who gets the most letters from interested companions.

If you would like to get to know Damian or any of the other nine men, you can write a letter to state your case.

Producers will be accepting letters until May 30.
