Nakhane Toure album launch

Musician invites his fans and music lovers to attend the launch event.


To celebrate the release of his new five track EP The Laughing Son, Nakhane Toure invites his fans and music lovers to attend the launch event taking place at legendary live music venue The Bassline (Jazz Room) in Newtown, Johannesburg on the November 27.

Born, Nakhane Mavuso in a small town called Alice in the Eastern Cape; Nakhane Toure changed his last name as an homage to the late Malian guitarist Ali Farka Toure. He released his debut album titled Brave Confusion in 2013 which was received with critical acclaim.

Over the past couple of years he has garnered the attention of both the local and international music scene, landing a cover article on Rolling Stone South Africa magazine and bagging an incredible four SAMA nominations at the 20th Annual South African Music Awards in 2014, where he took home the trophy for Best Alternative Album that year. He was also nominated for Best Pop/Alternative at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.

More recently he has worked on a collaborative track with the global superstar and house music maverick DJ Black Coffee on the smash hit single We Dance Again, which is play listed on radio stations across the African continent. He’s currently on the front cover of the newly revamped BLQ Quarterly magazine, and has a brand new novel out called ‘Piggy Boy’s Blues’ published by Black Bird Books, an imprint of Jacana Media, available nationwide at all good book stores including Exclusive Books.
