Netflix’s first South African series will be launching on the streaming service on Friday, 8 March.
The eight-episode show titled Shadow follows the story of police detective and former task force specialist Shadrach ‘Shadow’ Khumalo who embarks on a journey to carry out justice after a young girl is brutally murdered.
Shadow has a rare condition that affects his central nervous system and makes him resistant to physical pain – much like Marvel’s Luke Cage.
The ex-cop uses this to his advantage and takes matters into his owns hands as he tries to catch elusive criminals and save Johannesburg from crime.
Pallance Dladla plays the role of Shadow, while Amanda Du Pont stars as his love interest Ashley.
Another locally produce series that is set to air on Netflix is Queen Sono, starring Pearl Thusi as a secret South African agent who tackles criminal operations.
The announcement was made last year, and principal photography for the first season is scheduled to start in April.
