‘Retail Vision: Transformational Business Lessons from a Magical Mall’ helps people rediscover their purpose

The book is the outcome of Wheeler and the tenants running a fully booked business renovation process at the mall in 2019.

Robin Wheeler, author of Death is the Ultimate Orgasm: Handbook on How to Live and Die and other popular motivational literary works, has released his latest offering together with a group of independent tenants at Johannesburg’s Bedford Centre, in Bedfordview.

Titled Retail Vision: Transformational Business Lessons from a Magical Mall, it’s the outcome of Wheeler and the tenants running a fully booked business renovation process at the mall in 2019, and it shows the way forward for the retail industry from the pens of the people whose lives revolve around that retail space. With acclaimed author Wheeler’s curation and contributions, this business and life tool is a culmination of Wheeler’s well-received Insights series of books on being yourself for a living, which was developed some 12 years ago called Fully Booked.

The Insights series facilitates transformation within companies, draws solutions from key people, and publishes these as a brand-building book that takes organisations to new levels of innovation and awareness. Written by the independent tenants of the mall, the book brings together 36 chapters of inspiring solutions to the challenges in traditional retail and promises to redefine the global industry as it deals with the seismic shifts brought on by online shopping, a slump in consumer spending and general changes in the market.

Meshack Phiri, portfolio executive at Mowana Properties and Centre Management Veteran says he thoroughly enjoyed the well-written, well-structured and easy-to-read book. “Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. I recommend it to any retailer, would-be retailer, centre management staff, and sales and retail trainers,” he says. Phiri adds that the book blends the ingredients and experiences of some of the successful businesses at Bedford Centre in such an accessible manner that it can be applied as tools and guidelines for running a sustainable and profitable business anywhere.

Vincent Marino, CEO of the Ekhuruleni Aerotropolis Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who wrote the foreword to the book, says Retail Vision is a beacon in the ever-changing business landscape.

“It brings old soul and new direction to an industry that desperately needs this innovative mix of both,” says Marino. Co-author, consultant, trainer and coach Resheka Mahadow, ex-tenant of Bedford Centre and also from Bedfordview, worked closely with Wheeler throughout the project to bring the meaning and magic back into the age-old business of retail. Retail Vision is set to guide everyone in the industry to rediscover their purpose, develop their differentiators and lead the future.
