What top fillies will be wearing

TIPS: Be classic, chic, elegant with lots of bling.

Don’t wear heels that you cannot walk in. Don’t forget your lipstick and don’t forget to take as many pictures as you can and enjoy yourself. This is the advice from “the face” of this year’s Sansui Summer Cup, TV presenter Dineo Moeketsi.

Unlike many people who might be rushing to the stores to find the ultimate outfit to match the theme of “nothing is big, unless it’s Jozi big”, Moeketsi will be dressed by celebrity haute couture designers Quiteria and George on the big day on Saturday at Turffontein racecourse in Johannesburg.

Wearing an embellished jumpsuit inspired by the city of Johannesburg, the brand ambassador says: “We have been working on it for quite some time, on every little detail. You can expect lots of bling.” Although she didn’t want to give away too much about her ensemble, she adds: “Everyone wants to feel classic, chic and elegant. There’s nothing better than feeling absolutely glamorous in a beautiful ensemble with your hair and make-up done. Your hairstyle should complement your hat, should you be wearing one.”

The theme for this year is a celebration of the city through sports, art, history and fashion. It resonates with the quality of the city’s horseracing tradition.

In addition to the theme, the main colour of the race this year will be pink – but if you don’t fancy yourself wearing a pink head-to-toe get-up, Moeketsi says: “I would suggest mixing up different shades of pink, with some glitter elements or nail art. Be as creative as you possibly can.”

The Gauteng Sansui Summer Cup is Johannesburg’s premier horseracing event with something for everyone, including a fashion show for up-and-coming designers, Summer Garden and Summer Sound Experience hospitality packages and the Jozi Circle after-party.

Tickets from Computicket. The main event is over 2 000m, with a stake of R2 million.
